Happy 10 Year Workiversary to our Controller, Patty Rupp!

I came to H & M in Sept 2007 after eight years at our accountants, Lutz & Company where I held multiple positions in their State & local tax and client accounting services departments.  While at Lutz I completed my BSBA in Accounting.    Prior to public accounting I held accounting positions in retail (Wal-Mart) and behavioral health.  Shortly after arriving at H&M I finalized my retirement from the Nebraska Army National Guard.  I started my military career as an Air Command Control operator with the U.S. Marine corps from 1985 -1986 and continued it with the Army National guard (1989-2008) where I held multiple position in the communications and administration fields.  The highlight of my military career was a one year tour of Kuwait in 2004-2005 with the 1075^th Transportation Company out of Columbus Nebraska.  I started with H & M as the Accounting Manager and have grown with this position to my current title of Controller.

What I do outside of the office depends on my family.  I enjoy reading, crocheting and traveling but what occupies my home life is our church and our family which consist of 2 grown boys and 1 college daughter and 4 soon to be 5 grandchildren, yippee!  Our house also includes one codependent cat and two “want to be lap” dogs that make our empty nest busy.  I get most of my reading done watching my husband of 24 years, Don fishing which he hopes to do more of this year, I would rather be sitting on the deck of a cruise ship reading but we all have to compromise.

What I like and why I stay?  H & M Trucking is home, we care about each and every person that has a connection to us – from our drivers all the way to our customers and vendors all the time embracing our staff along the way.  I enjoy the challenges that this company has provided me, our business is not all cookie cutter and each day brings new and exciting issues.  This is just not a job this is a fundamental part of my life.  I could not have dreamed up this environment but I am thrilled that I continue to be blessed to be a part of this company.
